Visited Neka Art Museum and really enjoyed the experience. The collection is impressive, with a mix of traditional and modern Balinese art, along with works from international artists. Each gallery has its own character, so it doesn’t feel repetitive. The setting is also beautiful, surrounded by greenery which makes the whole visit feel calm and relaxing. It’s not too crowded either, so you can take your time and actually enjoy the artworks. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Ubud and into art or just looking for a quieter cultural spot.

This is a very important museum in Indonesia showing the best local and international artists for Balinese inspired painting! The museum itself is an oasis a bit outside of Ubud; in fact a must for every art loving visitor! The museum is a tedious effort of the gallerists Neka! But: they are doing too little promotion for the museum! It is widely empty! And -sorry- there are too many photos and paintings about Neka himself! Somehow not good! And only one painting of Walter Spies!!!! Still highly recommended! 🙌🏻

I visited the Neka Art Museum this morning (Sunday) and really enjoyed it. I had the place to myself as I wandered around. There were wonderful examples of traditional Balinese art and carvings with some western artists in there too. The buildings and grounds were peaceful and immaculately clean and I'd recommend this place if you'd like somewhere away from the crowds and a little less touristy. There was also a cafe on site which I didn't try and the opportunity to try some Balinese arts and craft classes that looked interesting.

In 2017, I saw a UFO hovering over here. It was a very beautiful blue light. It was moving around very busily, but it seemed to notice that I was watching, as it stopped for a moment and then disappeared off to the west. I think it was the first time in my life that I had such a wonderful experience. I told this to a Balinese friend later, but he didn't believe me. Balinese culture is based on the idea that fairies exist, but they don't believe in UFOs. That's very funny.

Wanted to visit this place since my research showed that there was a forge here to demonstrate forging a keris. Walking in here piqued my wife's and my interest from the start. The intricate wooden carvings and old school paintings. My wife and I didn't have much interest in the modern section so we skipped those parts. The highlight for this trip were the 2 halls full of keris's. As a maker myself, the attention to detail and references was out of this world. This itself made the trip worth it. You'll have to book the forging demonstration in advance for the blacksmiths to prepare. I was unfortunate enough to have missed that detail but at least I got to have a look at the forging area.
