I have had diner in many different places, some with a Michelin star but this experience at Locavore NXT was by far the best and most exquisite experience I ever had! The staff in incredibly welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. I love how focused and passionate everyone was about their job. The atmosphere and architecture of each space are extremely expressive. You are amazed by the look and feel and the story of each room and corresponding dish. I really loved learning about the local flavours of Bali this way. And last but not least; the food! Rarely have I experienced so many different flavours with so much creativity and care. Also the pairing with the beverages was a perfect match and brought out new tasty flavours. All together more than a 10/10!
Bautiful setting, great atmosphere, and a very memorable experience overall. We had a lovely evening and really enjoyed the concept and service. The food presentation was impressive, but many dishes felt quite acidic, with similar flavor notes repeating throughout the menu. We also chose the alcoholic pairing, and almost every drink had a very strong clove flavor. Unfortunately, one of us could barely drink it because of that. The same spice profile appeared in several dishes as well and sometimes overpowered the other flavors. While the experience itself was unique and enjoyable, it wasn’t one of the most outstanding fine dining experiences for us in terms of taste. One more thing: the dinner lasted nearly four hours, which felt too long. The pauses between courses were often around 15 minutes, making the evening much longer than we expected. Still, a beautiful place worth visiting for the overall experience.
The whole experience was simply amazing. We entered and were seated close to the bar, although it was beautiful and very interesting when they brought out the first course we were surprised thinking is this where we are going to eat? And then our hostess came and said I have a surprise for you and wow she was not joking. I can honestly say from the first minute we arrived we were impressed to the last minute that we left. There were 16 dishes and truly there was no bad dish. 13 were just like an explosion of thought and taste and only three were just good. The whole concept and the architecture of the building is so beautifully thought through. I can honestly say again it was the best fine dining restaurant we’ve done and we’ve done a good few. So thank you to the amazing team who made our honeymoon even more special. 🙏🏼
And there it is, we booked Locavore NXT already some one and half months prior to arriving in Bali. Being one of the best restaurants in Asia we really anticipated and looked forward to the experience. And it didn’t disappoint. We feel like we’ve been somewhere else for a while. Though Michelin stars are not present in Indonesia for reference, expect nothing less than a two or maybe even more star experience. This was not dining either, this was an experience. Locavore took about 12 years to build the whole concept to what it is today. All products are locally grown and raised and selected and perfected with the utmost care. Upon entering, a drink with small snacks, in this case all vegetarian (mind and taste deception), with a small booklet for explanation. On one side is a wood carved panel in the wall, which later turns out to be a revolving door. Once through it, you enter the actual restaurant area. But before we take a seat there we are taken down, where it is shown how different mushrooms are grown. Two small dishes with the mushrooms are served with Kombucha downstairs. Then we are taken upstairs and we get a seat at a nice round table. There are about 16 mind blowing courses, colorful and extremely tasteful with matching wines. (Nice quantities, so you don’t get hit in the knees when you stand from your table). In between we are taken to the rooftop. A very tastefully decorated kitchen in the middle of a green oasis. There a salad is made and served on the spot. Choice of some 450 different, home-grown vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. My heart is already jumping. Nice side effect is that the head-chef and sous-chef are Dutch. And you are just addressed by your first name all evening. It was really fantastic!
One of the best dining experiences of my entire life! The food was incredible, the decor was stunning, it was an adventure of basements and rooftops and sunsets and a list of ingredients I'd never even heard of! Truly worth every cent, the whole place is next-level. Even the crockery is fascinating and varied! The alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks pairings were varied and delicious, and matched with each course perfectly. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about every aspect of the courses, and watching the kitchen work was like witnessing an exercise in precision and true skill. Photos can only show so much, this is one you have to see (and eat!) for yourself!!
