We won a nights stay as part of a prize and to be honest we didn't know what to expect. Well, its real nice. The hotel has a boujie vibe to it. The room with the freestanding bath was elegant and comfortable. We had access to the executive lounge which was a nice touch, free canapes and drinks. Breakfast overlooking the Harbour was a beautiful way to end our stay. We would definitely recommend a stay at So, and hopefully we can make it back sometime.

Lovely hotel and genuinely friendly staff, but unfortunately the overall experience was not the dream weekend we were hoping for. Our room was not ready when we arrived, despite having early check-in as Accor Plus members, which meant the stay got off to a disappointing start. We booked a city hotel expecting to enjoy a lovely view, so it was very disappointing to find the TV positioned in the middle of the window (not able to be moved), significantly obscuring our view. The macarons on the plate were a lovely touch, but unfortunately they had been placed on a bed of apple purée, which made them soggy and inedible. It was a thoughtful gesture, but another example of the small details not quite landing. We were also disappointed that the rooftop bar was closed on both Sunday and Monday, as we had been looking forward to enjoying a cocktail there. Instead, we had a less-than-satisfactory cocktail in the restaurant, where only two cocktail options were available. Another strange detail was that although our bed linen was changed, there was no top sheet — just the uncovered duvet inner, which felt unusual and not particularly comfortable. The shower temperature was also temperamental and very difficult to regulate, which added to the sense that the room lacked the comfort we expected. Overall, while the staff were warm and welcoming, the stay lacked the attention to detail we would expect from a hotel of this standard. It was a real let-down, especially for a weekend we had been looking forward to. Accor Plus card is unable to be used in this SO Hotel restaurant.

I was very disappointed with my stay. For what is marketed as a luxury 5-star hotel, the experience felt surprisingly cheap. The TV in the room didn’t have Netflix, YouTube, or other popular streaming services, and the entertainment options were very limited. Travelling with my young son made this even more frustrating. He wanted to watch YouTube on the TV, but because it wasn’t available, I ended up having to give him my phone instead, which wasn’t ideal. The food was also a major letdown. The options felt very limited, especially when travelling with a young child. In the end, I had to order Uber Eats for my son because there wasn’t much available that suited him. For the price you’re paying, I expected a much better selection and overall dining experience. The best part of my stay was definitely the pool and gym. Both facilities were excellent, well maintained, and were the highlight of the hotel experience for me. My son absolutely loved the pool and had a great time swimming, which was one of the few highlights of our stay. Overall, the hotel looks flashy, but the experience didn’t match the price or reputation. I wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend spending my money here again.

The room was great, even after confusion on pre-payment not being recognised at check-in. Also paying for valet parking and then having to park your car yourself because the staff member cant drive a manual seems a bit strange. Hotel is very modern and if you're not used to a few quirks, it could be an interesting experience. Staff were lovely and enjoyed the Hi So rooftop bar. Breakfast was fantastic. Some really nice options.

We stayed for a night before flying out of Auckland in a corner room on the 7th floor. Check-in was easy, we asked for and got a check-out at noon, the bar on the top floor offered lovely views (and thanks Accor for the welcome drink), the pool, sauna and spa were divine and the breakfast buffet was yummy. We appreciated the solid door separating the bathroom from the bedroom and the room amenities were great. Great being able to walk outside and pretty much immediately be in Auckland's harbour area - nice shops and restaurants. One small criticism - our rate include Exec Lounge access and while the lounge was nice (particularly the second level which was partially open air), the canapes were seriously below average. Wouldn't stop us from coming back, next time we're in Auckland.
