This restaurant exceeded our expectations. The service from the waitstaff was excellent. The wine list offered a truly extensive variety. Every dish we ordered was perfectly cooked, the seasoning was superb, and the presentation was truly wonderful. We were already full and hesitated about ordering dessert, but we would have regretted it if we hadn't. This is definitely a restaurant we will return to. We would highly recommend it to future customers who haven't been there yet. Kingi is one of Auckland's first choices among its many restaurants. The only problem is that the entrance is a little hard to find.
We came to Kingi for my graduation dinner with 10 people, and our experience was amazing. The food was incredibly delicious; each element and flavor. I personally really enjoyed the venison dish, it was cooked to perfection and Kumara flavour really shined through. The highlight for us, however, was the service. With a group of 10, the staff was incredibly patient with us and helped assist my group, who have a few food allergies. I don’t remember the name of our male server, but he was so lovely, patient, and attentive from start to finish. He even offered us a chocolate mousse on the house, which we really appreciated. Everyone in my group had a great time and experience. Thank you!
We went for dinner on Tuesday night at Kingi in Auckland CBD. The restaurant was quite busy, but it was easy to see why - it's a truly unique place that champions sustainability. They source all of their ingredients from local businesses, and the menu even details the fishermen who supply their seafood. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and very helpful. We followed their recommendations and absolutely loved the dishes we tried. The dark chocolate mousse with Chantilly cream and pumpkin seeds is an absolute must-try! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making for a really enjoyable evening. Overall, Kingi offers a memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend.
Beautiful interior and loved all the Kiwi music playing. We ordered an array of dishes but my favourite was the lamb and flatbread with coconut butter. I also really appreciated that the people who caught the seafood were named on the back of the menu, a thoughtful touch.
Visited Kingi recently. The food was okay but nothing exceptional. NZ King Crab Tagliolini: decent, but not very memorable. Red Kumara Gnocchi: a strange combination of flavors, hard to describe, not really my taste. Fries: crispy and okay. Strawberry tiramisu: more like a strawberry cake than tiramisu, but still edible. However, the photo policy was frustrating. We were only allowed to take pictures at our table and not around the restaurant. Even if we were not using flash and only taking photos at places where there was no people they still didn’t allow us. 💰The total came to around NZD $300 for two people, which is quite pricey for the overall experience. Overall, an average dining experience. The dishes are fine, but nothing stood out, and the service rules may put off some diners.
