We chose to stay at Colors Hotel Athens because it looked like a good deal - but let me tell you, it was the best decision we could have made because it’s right across the street from this absolute gem of a restaurant. We were only in Athens for one night so we consider ourselves very lucky to have found this spot. (It was across the street but also highly recommended by Hotel Staff - shoutout Stefanos) To start, the owner, Stratos, provided us with a very warm and friendly welcome - we instantly knew this was going to be a great experience. The decor and vibe of the restaurant is quaint and inviting with options for indoor and outdoor seating. We chose indoor but it still had a very open and airy feel. Let’s cut to the chase here - the food was absolutely incredible. We started with the Greek salad (excellent) and the sausage (11/10, best sausage we’ve ever had in our lives), and had the Chicken Schnitzel and special Beef Stew over basmati. Both entrees were very, very good - delivering great flavor and textures throughout. You can really tell there is a lot of love, passion, and expertise in both the back and front of the house here. The owner mentioned they’ve been operating for 30 years. Honestly, we can’t say enough about this place - I jumped on here to write a 5* review as soon as I could. If you get a chance, absolutely try it out.
I came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening (walk in) and had a very pleasant experience. The menu is short with 5-6 dishes per course which is usually a good sign as each dish is mastered to perfection. I had the beetroot salad and the special of the day which was slow cooked beef ragu with pasta - both very delicious and filling. Service was fast and very friendly. My waiter Lefteris was kind and full of enthusiasm which made feel very welcomed. He also surprised me with a small dessert at the end on the house! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
I tried the chef’s special of the day the traditional chicken and okra which was a huge portion and incredibly flavourful. The chicken was particularly juicy while the skin was perfectly crisp. The sauce the okra was in complement it perfectly. I tried the house white wine which was fantastic too. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and attentive. I also received a complementary desert which was a fantastic ending to my meal.
This is a basic restaurant which does have live music on some nights. It was 5 minutes from our hotel so ideal. The food was excellent, well cooked and tasty. You need to try the Zucchini balls with yoghurt, the fried Feta (very good), the calamari was fab and finally the Cretan chop with spicy feta dip was very good (if you like a good smoky bacon chop). Wine list was very easy and well priced, and the only criticism was that the main courses arrived and we hadn’t finished our starters! Beware the water and bread are charged but not a big deal for the excellent food and great service, worth going out of your way if you want tasty, not fancy and well priced food.
An amazing greek restaurant! The owner and the staff are soo friendly and welcoming, makes the dining experience 10 times better. The food was incredible, especially the today’s special slow cooked bianco beef. They have live music on Saturday’s as well.
