We came here for lunch right after a museum tour and got there right when they opened, so we had no wait. This ended up being one of our favorite meals from our entire two weeks in Greece. Everything we ordered was incredible. The tzatziki was hands down the best I’ve ever had. We also ordered the zucchini balls, meatballs in THE sauce, moussaka, and a warm drink that reminded me of mulled wine but somehow even better. Every single thing was a 10/10. I think the waiter told us the meatball recipe has been in their family for 250 years? I may have the years off but they definitely lived up to the hype. As good as my mom's. I had moussaka three different times during our trip and this was by far the best one. Same with the meatballs — we tried them multiple times around Greece and these were easily our favorite. Even the zucchini balls blew us away. We had them somewhere else later in the trip and honestly they didn’t even compare. If you want a truly delicious, authentic Greek meal in Athens, highly highly recommend this place. One of those meals you keep thinking about long after the trip is over.
We had an early dinner at To Kafebeio and were pleasantly greeted as soon as we arrived. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. The service was efficient, and our food came out quickly. Everything we tried was tasty and well-prepared, making for an enjoyable meal. It was a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner. Overall, it was a positive experience, and we’d definitely recommend it to others looking for a good meal in the area.
We got three items to share between the two of us and that was sufficient. The three items we got were the quinoa salad with goat cheese and a mint sauce, the giants elephant with feta cheese, and the eggplant with honey salad. The salads were somewhat unique and quite flavorful but the giants elephant was very average. Overall it was a pretty good meal and the location was rather nice as well. Since the weather was pretty good we dined outside. Good overall but not particularly memorable.
A very nice traditional restaurant in Athens. The portions were good, and everything tasted homemade. The meatballs in sauce were tender and rich in flavour. The Kavourmas was one of the most special dishes, with a strong and well seasoned taste from the spices. The sauce in every dish was excellent and tasted especially good with the bread. The price is reasonable.
I don’t think this place needs any help from me to improve their footfall. We came here about 5.30 without a reservation on a Saturday and were promptly seated, it was already quite busy. We ordered the Homemade Dolmades, Koupa (a fine Cretan salad) "Kavourmas" the ancient plate (a slow cooked beef and pork stew flavoured with spices and topped with feta) along with a carafe of house red wine. Afterwards we had the Orange Pie and a small jug of Rakomelo, which is a warm Cretan liquor with honey, cinnamon and orange drops. Everything, the decor (lovely 400 year old building) the staff, the food and the drink was perfect, by the time we left there was a queue outside. If you can make a booking it is probably a good idea.
