Cookoomela is a no-frills vegan fast-food stop in central Athens, built for eating on the move. The concept is simple: vegan souvlaki-style wraps, assembled fast and meant to be eaten standing or on one of the few stools available. We tried two mushroom gyros wraps: Pink and Red. Both are generously filled with mushroom gyros, sauces, salad, and toppings that give them a bold, colorful character. The Pink wrap stands out for its pink vegan aioli, almond cream cheese, and beetroot ketchup, while the Red goes for avocado, vegan mayo, and a tomato-based sauce. Flavor-wise, the combinations are indulgent and unapologetically messy — this is “dirty” street food, not restrained or minimal. The main downside is the potatoes. Despite being advertised as homemade, they clearly are not. They’re darkened from poor-quality oil, bland in taste and rely on excessive salt to compensate rather than actual flavor. Skipping the potatoes would noticeably improve the wraps. Service is self-service and efficient: one person on the register, one assembling the food. The setup is basic, seating is limited, and lingering isn’t really an option. That said, portions are filling and overall value for money is good. Bottom line: do yourself a favor — avoid the potatoes and you’ll be just fine.
Our first restaurant in Athens and what a street food place this is! All vegan and everything inside the gyros was great. I don't exactly know the difference between souvlaki (what they call it here) and gyros, but stuffed pitas with mushroom or lentil kebab. A lot of choices, with vegan tzasiki, cream, mayo, mustard, excellent home-made tomato sauce. Burgers and salads too and very nice potato wedges. Cinnamon soda was interesting.
Finally a place with incredible veg options! The menu is super wide, and offers a lot of alternatives between mushroom gyros and lentil kebab We took the pink and rainbow souvlaki and a lentil kebab The prices are super law, we’ve spent 20€ for 3 souvlaki, a beer and a glass of vegan homemade red wine Really recommended :)
Amazing vegan kebab (with lentils) and souvlaki (with mushrooms). We ate excellent food (our favourite was the kebab special), and we were served fast and kindly. The price/quality and quantity ratio is really good!! Highly recommended!!
Amazing vegan food. Came here twice in our time in Athens specially the rainbow Souvlaki/ Gyro. 🌈 . Kind owner and staff. Great place 👌🏼 Must try.
