Located just a stone’s throw from Syntagma Square in central Athens, The Bar In Front Of The Bar has been recognised as one of the best bars in the world. It opens relatively early, at 6 pm, which is when I visited. I sat outside and enjoyed two cocktails: a Kumquat Negroni and a Bergamot Highball. The bartender explained that the menu changes daily, although I hope both cocktails make a return, as they were excellent. The interior looked elegant and inviting, although it was understandably quiet at that hour, with most customers choosing to sit outdoors and enjoy the pleasant weather.

One of the coolest cocktail experiences we had in Athens. The Bar in Front of the Bar is exactly what its name suggests—a tiny street-side cocktail bar that feels like an extension of the city itself. The Bar in Front of the Bar was an exceptional experience. We had the opportunity to sit at the bar and our bartender Dimitri was amazing. He explain each of the drinks to us and told us the story on why it was one the menu. The bar is currently number 27 on the list of the top 27 bars in the world and is themed around the boxing match Rumble in the Jungle. Drinks such as "Spit Bucket" and "Rope-a-Dope" grace the outstanding menu. This is a must stop when out for drinks in Athens.
