Located in central Athens, Baba Au Rum has featured on the World’s Best Bars list for several years. I visited at around 11:30 pm on a weekday evening, when it was already fairly busy. There are numerous outdoor tables and stools, while the interior is spacious and lively. I took a seat at the bar and ordered a Devil’s Milk, one of the venue’s signature cocktails. A spicy, rum-based drink, it was every bit as enjoyable as the atmosphere of the bar itself.
This place hits the perfect sweet spot for an after-dinner drink. The atmosphere is electric—vibrant, stylish, and has that "frizzante" energy that makes a night feel special. The DJ set adds a great layer to the room, keeping the mood high without being overwhelming. I’m calling it: this was the best Mai Tai I’ve ever had. While it's a drink often over-sweetened in other places, here it was a masterclass in balance. You can taste the quality of the rum and the precision in the almond notes. It is pure craft in a glass. Stay for the transition. Watching the bar shift from a relaxed early-evening spot to a high-energy late-night venue is part of the experience. The synergy between the music and the mixology is what makes this place stand out. A stunning bar with world-class drinks and a fantastic vibe. If you’re in Athens and want a night that feels alive, this is a smart choice
The best! We had an amazing experience here, the drinks are sophisticated, beautiful, delicate and authentic. For sure me and my partner will have good memories from this day. The staff were really kind and helpful with suggestions, which made the experience much better. This cocktail bar focuses on the customer experience; they don't ask you to leave after a certain amount of time, unlike other bars in the world's top 50 best bars, I’m trying not to compare but it is impossible as I’ve already visit other ones in Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Japan. I strongly recommend the cocktail with pear and cheese, this one is so unique and delicious (and beautiful!). The food was also amazing.
A legendary place in the streets of Athens. Not too much show off, simplicity in decoration, an iced glass and good quality ice. Menu consistet of interesting combinations of rum cocktails, and of course, should be visited more times to actually “review”. What we tried was tasty and just the same as it was explained. We tried two of the classic cocktails, however the names slip. Service was kind, and the atmosphere was welcoming, making you want to open up, savour the night, not just have a fancy drink. Did we try the best cocktails? No. Would we go again? Of course!
Very fun place with unbelievable drinks, it has become the first stop when we get into Athens and one of the main reasons (although there are many) to visit this beautiful city. Even though it gets busy the service is still on point and the drinks remain of incredible quality. It is a fun place where to enjoy the inventions of the talented bartenders.
