A masterpiece of Brabantine Gothic architecture, its single completed spire dominates the skyline, and the interior houses several monumental altarpieces by Peter Paul Rubens.

A Gothic Giant with the Soul of a Museum "You can see the spire from almost anywhere in Antwerp, but nothing prepares you for the interior. It’s less like a dark, dusty church and more like an airy, light-filled gallery. The Rubens altarpieces are the obvious stars here—seeing The Descent from the Cross in the very space it was intended for is a completely different experience than seeing it in a museum. Even if you aren’t a 'church person,' the sheer height of the nave and the intricate wood-carving of the pulpit are staggering. It’s a peaceful, awe-inspiring refuge from the busy shopping streets outside. Definitely worth the entry fee for the art alone." The SpIt’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and technically unfinished (the second tower was never completed). Mention the modern stained glass sitting alongside the 16th-century masterpieces. A massive, swirling oak masterpiece that looks like a forest frozen in time. "If you visit, try to time it for a carillon concert. Hearing the bells ring out across the Groenplaats while you stand at the base of the tower is the quintessential Antwerp moment."
An absolutely spectacular experience! The Cathedral is full of priceless artifacts, paintings, stained glass windows, wood carvings, etc. It’s one of those rare places where you can see great paintings in situ, displayed as they were intended - including four Rubens. This is not a site to rush through, and unlike many churches, all the chapels are open to visitors and there are many benches around to sit and absorb what you are seeing. I was there over an hour and would go back with a guide book. Allow time to fully appreciate. To truly
I often come here to our Cathedral of our Lady just to sit quietly and reflect. I It’s not just a stunning architecture. It’s a perfect spot to find peace of mind. I also love lighting candles here for family’s birthday or for my own. Come and see the largest Gothic church in BENELUX (Belgium, Netherlands,Luxembourg).
Great place to visit, the art displayed is amazing. There are live music playing on the day of my visit so I really enjoy. It is also cheap to entry for 12 euro (10 euro for students). It is not crowded so we can visit comfortably
Cathedral of Our Lady is the largest Gothic church in Belgium and one of Antwerp’s most iconic landmarks. It dates back to the 14th century and is home to several masterpieces by the famous painter Peter Paul Rubens. Stepping inside gave me a very spiritual and peaceful feeling. The architecture is stunning both inside and out, with incredible details that really make you pause and admire the space. I also stopped by the souvenir shop and picked up a few items to remember the visit.
