The flying pig was a wonderful experience, the main benefit is that it is at walkable distance from the railway station and bus station. Just follow the map to reach the hostel. Staff were really helpful thus check in was very easy. No blanket or towel is provided but can be rented separately. it is usually crowded. Hostel is well maintained, it is very neat and maintained very well. The beds are very spacious, also provides a locker but please make sure you carry lock for this. Washroom and Toilet are very good also have hot water always. The room I stayed was far from the reception so had to carry the luggage and the path was little confusing. The room or the path did not have sunlight but the room had a small place and a smoking room for ventilation. There are many tourist spots near the hostel to explore, I really enjoyed the light festival though it rained. The people staying will be mostly people travelling so it is very easy to make connections. Luggage can be left at the hotel after check out but you need to collect it before 8 and they dont allow after that and the luggage storage size was small thus I didnt keep leave it in the hostel after check out, I got ready, checked out and left the luggage in the railway station which is 16 Euros for 24 hours and one trolley bag of medium size can be kept, otherwise you may explore option in the "Bounce" app, they help you find places to keep your luggage. Overall the stay was pleasant and did not face any issues, highly recommended if you are looking for budget stay.
Honestly, such a great experience. As a frequent traveller and hostel booker, I’ve seen alot of venues across the spectrum! The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Common areas and toilets were kept clean and organised. Everyone in my room was respectful of others sleeping and despite there being a party hostel vibe, it never felt disruptive. Beds were comfy and I slept well. Would definitely recommend and return! Thanks team, keep up the great work 🩷
Honestly just feedback, me and my friend stayed here. I payed for us both under my name. He had to leave a day early and I needed to stay a day extra, this was due to poor weather and our travel plans. They were unable to change anything and left my buds bed empty for a night, and charged me for an extra day. Is it me or does this policy not account for us being humans. Life changes like the weather and the policy is like yeah, sorry pay more. So I am asking maybe review your policy, maybe make it a little more flexible for us human. No one needs to be charged with an open bed like this. Update: they went through my belongings and everything due to them not updating the beds correctly. I read the response below, but it doesn’t answer my question put forth. Why is something so simple like changing a reservation, or something like this against the rules? Why does simple things, that are out of our control cost more money? You left a bed empty instead of giving me the night and charging someone else, that sounds like a win win for us both. But apparently I guess you don’t agree?
This was my first solo trip and I decided to visit Amsterdam and stay at the Flying Pig Downtown Hostel. The location is great, next to the Amsterdam Central Station and very well connected to the rest of the city. I experienced the trip to the fullest. I want to say a very big thank you to the people that made my stay even more enjoyable and those are the people from the Flying Pig Downtown Hostel. Big Thank you to Alesio, Chris, Rui, Yoha, Grego, Aitana, Luigi, Laura, Nana, Rodri, Madny, Zoe, Mailen, Martina, Caye, Renato, Florian el Señor de la noche. Joha is the one I had the first contact with and he was very pleasant and informative about how the hostel and provided amazing guidance. I can say as well for Aitana and the rest of the crew at the reception, amazing. A special thank you to Chris and Rui, one of a kind people. I saw them basically everyday during my stay. Absolutely great attention and care for the bar and main lobby as well as being very attentive to the guests. Great guys. Szacunek/Respeito On my last day, Alesio hosted a game of pool with the guests which I was a part of and he did an amazing job. I had a lot of fun. On my first day however, I also learned something very important: Don not challenge Luigi in a game of pool. All in all, If you are a solo traveler or not, I recommend staying at The Flying Pig Downtown Hostel. Thank you for a great stay guys, hope to see you again soon. All the best! Ugi
If you stay ANYWHERE in Amsterdam, stay here. From the moment we walked in we were absolutely enamoured by the vibe of this place. A pool table, smoking room for joints, open bar until 3am, and balcany, all squeezed into a cozy yet spacious area that was so easy to navigate. The rooms were also really comfortable and spacious, with ample room underneath to store luggage. The toilets were well maintained and clean, the showers have shelves to put your stuff on as well as hooks, and there are cheap lockers too. The staff here were just incredible - you can tell they love their jobs - big shoutout to Chris who did tequila shots with us. But everyone was so friendly and helpful when I needed something or wanted help finding places to go. The hostel has such an amazing vibe and is set up in a way that inherently facilitates socialisation. They had a beer pong tournament when I was there and by the end of it, there were 30-40 people watching the grand final! The drinks are cheap and tasty, there's always 20-30 people around the bar during the late evenings on a weekend, and the music they play is just on point. Everyone I met here became instant family to me - all three nights I met separate groups of friends who I went out with and made so many memories with, all thanks to that little pool table in the common area. I look back at this place with such fond memories and will absolutely be staying here again shall I ever return to Amsterdam. Thank you so much Flying Pig
