Hip hotel with vintage-chic rooms & suites, plus free Wi-Fi, a refined restaurant & a terrace.via Google

A good central boutique option with a more relaxed feel than the big-name hotels around Dam Square.

Review (pre-stay): Booked two rooms at Hotel V and contacted them within 18 hours due to a change in travel plans—still more than three weeks before the stay. There was ample time to resell the rooms. The reservation was under a non-refundable rate. Understood. What is not understandable is the complete lack of any flexibility—no partial refund, no modification, not even a future credit. The response was limited to repeating “policy,” without any attempt to assess the situation. After multiple follow-ups and a formal escalation request, communication stopped entirely. In the Dutch spirit of reasonableness (“redelijkheid en billijkheid”), this is difficult to justify. This was a straightforward request made promptly, with sufficient notice, where a practical outcome was possible. Instead, we are left paying for two unused rooms - wasting funds and ability for others to use and visit Amsterdam. If this remains unresolved and we are required to keep the booking, this experience will be revisited after the stay as well. At this level, you expect practical, hospitable decision-making and basic service standards. This was neither. Proceed with caution.

Great location, friendly staff and a lovely welcome with a complimentary drink. They even noticed it was my birthday and congratulated me – a really nice touch. We only stayed overnight, but we did have a cocktail at The Lobby in the evening – and again, very friendly, attentive service and excellent cocktails!

The location is perfect. Very great starting point for anything you want to do in Amsterdam. The room however is lacking. There was no thermostat and it was pretty warm so we opened the windows. Unfortunately because the location is so good the folks partying till 3 in the morning will wake you up on their way home. Unbelievable to me at this price point there is no way to control the room temperature. 25 years ago as a younger person I would have loved this place, but 25 years ago I couldn't have afforded it. Overall a fine place but for the money you can do better.

Fantastic location, great rooms, and very friendly and helpful staff. It's on a central but quiet street. We had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking a back courtyard. It was perfect - no external noise and no irritating room noises (like extractor fans or AC). An easy walk to stations (both central and metro) and many eating options. Great room facilities. Our room rate included breakfast - no buffet, but lots of good choices from the breakfast menu. (It was tricky to contact the hotel in advance to confirm our request for a twin room, but I did get a reply shortly before our stay). I'd stay again.

We loved it. Room was clean and very comfortable. Everyone we encountered was very nice and extremely helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
