I didn't stay at the hotel this time, but stumbling upon their café was a highlight of my trip. The atmosphere in the lobby is fantastic, especially the creative and witty signs scattered around—their sense of humor really gives the place a unique soul! The real standout, however, was Tamara. She is incredibly kind, professional, and clearly knows her craft. Her warm hospitality and expert service made me feel more welcome than I have at many places I’ve actually stayed in. Because of her exceptional attitude and the great vibe of the space, this hotel is now at the top of my list for my next visit to the city. Highly recommended!
I had a great stay in this hostel! From the start of our stay to the end everyone working there was so friendly and helpful, catering to your every need and always open to finding a solution to anything that was asked! The room we had was behind a hidden bookshelf which was super unique and the bed was very comfy which is often hard to find! We could also rent bikes which was very convenient for us and we were able to leave our bags before check in so had a chance to explore the city, overall would definitely recommend if your looking for a place to stay especially as a group of friends.
What a disastrous hotel! I made my reservation over two months in advance for the Secret Book Case room. The concept seemed interesting. The day before my arrival, I received a message confirming my reservation was for the Poison Ivy room. I was already a bit annoyed, but seeing the date and the fact that there was no refund, what could I do? Well, I arrived at the hotel and they gave me the awful "Stick With Me Room"—a complete disaster, absolutely horrendous. On top of that, they told me it wasn't being maintained because it was cheap: €200 a night is considered cheap, not room mainrenance or service, because was a ship bedroom!!! A HORROR!!! Make sure you get what you book because then, when you arrive with no refund and the date looming, you'll just have to put up with it. I had to take a deep breath and think: this hovel is only good for sleeping, never again!!! And yes, it's a hotel, NOT a HOTEL!!! What we the customer could do traveling for another country? Just stay because there IS not refund, the worst place i never been. Hate It!!! Please be sure if they Will give what you are asking for. Don't say I didn't inform you. After all I was thinking: come really late just to take a shower aNd try to sleep
The hotel is very close to the center and on a street with restaurants and bars. The tram is a 3 minute walk. Pleasant environment with clean rooms and excellent service from the staff. Alexandre and Tamara were very kind and helped me with everything I needed since it was my first time visiting Amsterdam. Whatever you need these guys and the rest of the staff will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. Thank you Tamara and Alexandre for your hospitality. I will definitely visit you again soon 💯🙏
What happened with Hotel Not Hotel was so unacceptable it needs to be shared. We were dealing with a serious medical situation. My daughter had a highly contagious illness, and her physician made it clear that she should not travel because of the risk of organ rupture. Given the unusual and completely unforeseeable circumstances, we requested a refund, understanding that the room was technically nonrefundable. That was never the issue. Upon requesting it, Hotel Not Hotel repeatedly told us they would issue a refund, then reversed course, then assured us again that they would refund it if we followed the steps they provided, and then denied it again. Hotel Not Hotel initially responded with what seemed like compassion. They told us they would refund the stay. They even put in writing that they would personally take care of it. They asked for medical documentation, including lab work and confirmation of the severity of the illness, and we provided everything they requested. After they received the medical information they asked for, they again assured us that they would issue the refund if we followed the additional steps they gave us. Once again, we followed those steps exactly. Then they denied the refund. When we referenced the written assurance, we were told that the manager who made that commitment, Alex, was suddenly no longer employed there. Conveniently, that meant no one would honor what had already been promised in writing. A hotel asked for detailed medical records, acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, promised a refund, asked us to complete additional steps, reassured us that the refund would be issued if we complied, and then denied it anyway. Even more troubling, their position essentially became that my daughter should have traveled anyway, despite being contagious and at risk of serious medical complications, rather than the hotel absorbing a $250 loss or simply rebook the room with someone else. They would rather risk her life and expose other guests than follow through on their own word. (I handled the refund process and am writing this review because my daughter is too ill to do so herself.)
