We have stayed at the Generator three times over the 3 years, and our stays have got better and better. We are a charity rugby club playing at the Amsterdam 7s and we have seen our numbers grow each year, which saw us take 3 teams to play in this year’s tournament. We placed 80 of our 108 players/supporters at the Generator with no problems at all. The rooms are great and exactly what we needed, the facilities like the dining area, food that is on offer and bar are fantastic and the overall vibe of the place is exactly what we wanted before, during and after this huge international tournament. The staff are amazing and are always willing to go the extra mile for us. Communication with the hotel before our arrival were outstanding as well. Where the Generator is situated made it easy for us to come and go whenever we needed to be, be it by taxi, on foot or having the coaches come to pick us up. We will be coming back next year that is for sure as this place has everything we need. A++++++ 5***********
My friends and I were at the Generator for a pub crawl and we had an amazing time! Very cool location and the staff was super fun. Special shout out to Anastasia at the bar, she was super friendly and helpful. Had some great convo with her. Made the night extra special. Would recommend as a place to start out your night with some chill drinks before you go out
Stayed here last week for four nights. Although the rooms and the common areas are nice, it's a bit too overpriced and they charge you for every little thing. Eg. I was checking out on the fourth day and had a train in the evening so I asked at the reception if they could kindly keep my suitcases for a couple of hours but they said I will have to pay for it. Quite unusual really. I even requested once but didn't work. If one is staying at the hostel that means they're on budget. You shouldn't be charging for everything. Oh and they also didn't have any body wash or shampoo in the bathrooms, something I had to go out and buy. I stayed at 4 different hostels these last few weeks but experience here was quite annoying tbh. Wish they cared about their residents a bit more and made them feel comfortable!
Very small rooms, but nice to have separate shower and toilet. 6 bed dorm, but each bunk was 3 high. Top bunks don’t have a curtain which was weird, but other ones did.really cool shared space, and backs onto a beautiful park. Was not the closest to main part of the city but you can rent bikes from the hostel and then it’s super easy to get around! Services was good but no one stood out.
The hotel is very nice, but the service does not match the quality of the place. The breakfast is below average: hard bread (likely from previous days), and the same tomatoes, cheese, and ham every day. There is no shared kitchen available, and everything they sell — from laundry soap to food — is overpriced, at least double its normal value. The 6-person rooms are extremely small, unbearable for more than one night. I would not come back.
